One of my favorite things about having brothers and sisters in Christ is this: With their love and prayers, they create a shield around me that the enemy can’t penetrate. After I have rested, they call me back to the battle line. They remind me of the authority I have in Christ to fight for hearts of my family and to overcome the enemy.
Make no mistake, dear Chosen and Crowned sisters, the enemy is after the souls of our kids, our husbands, and us…the family matriarch. As I was praying about what to write this week, God laid it on my heart that many of you are aching over the condition of your family. Where there used to be love, there is now discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder (2 Corinthians 12:20).
We must remember…our battle is not against flesh and blood…it is against Satan himself and his spirits of anger, rebellion, offense, strife, abuse…you name it. If its evil, it’s from the enemy. Whatever it is, it’s his choice weapon to destroy your family.
It’s time to rise up, sisters. It’s time to stand firm. You have been given authority in Christ to overcome all the power of the enemy.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Ephesians 6:10,11
Our two weapons of offense are the Word of God and prayer. We. Must. Pray. And as often as you can, pray scripture. It has the power to destroy strongholds and send the enemy running.
“Take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.” Ephesians 6:17,18
Pray that hearts of stone would become hearts of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26).
Pray that hearts would fully surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ (Romans 12:1,2).
Pray that minds would not be controlled by the sinful nature which leads to death, but that they would be controlled by the Holy Spirit which leads to life and peace (Romans 8:5-7).
Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill the atmosphere of your home with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22,23).
Pray that love would reign in your home (John 13:35).
Pray! Pray! Pray! Get some pure olive oil and anoint bed posts and door frames. Claim your family for the Lord and tell the devil to get out. He can’t have your family. Rise up, sisters!
When you are weary from battle (and even when you’re not!), get your brothers and sisters in Christ to surround you with their prayers. What a privilege it is to be in the family of God.
